More than Memorial Day

We know that Memorial Day occurs in May, and while this day was established initially to remember members of the military who gave their lives in service to our country, it has become a time to remember all our loved ones who have died. It is fitting, therefore, that May is also the month when Michael’s Place offers special activities to remember our loved ones who have died. In addition to our annual River Memorial, our children’s support groups will be talking about memorials—why we have memorial services and how memorials help us remember the things that make our loved one special. We will also be writing messages that may be placed in the campfire at our River Memorial, or choosing special poems and drawings to share on the Grieffiti Wall.

Many of us did not get to say everything we wanted to say to our loved ones before they died, so both the Grieffiti Wall and the opportunity to place private messages in the fire are a way to say some of those special words we would like to say to our very special loved ones. I hope you can join us often during this month.

You are welcome to contact Michael's Place at 947-6453 with questions.
